In the aerial robotics world, there is a multitude of multirotor companies that fill the scene, but only one company that is truly recognized and respected by most and that is, DJI. DJI was one of the first companies that released consumer friendly drones, allowing drones to explode onto the scene. The company continues to find new ways to innovate upon the old design and SolveLight Robotics is delighted to review DJI’s newest model yet, the Phantom 4.
The Phantom 4 is a result of years of research and design, bringing users an autonomous drone that comes with many new and sought out features that give the user ease of use. With their newest feature, active track, the user simply presses the object on the screen and watch as the Phantom 4 autonomously follows the subject all the while avoiding any obstacles that come its way due to its new obstacle avoidance system. The Phantom 4 comes with a vision positioning system that utilizes its built-in cameras to help avoid crashing into objects while following the subject.
Flying you drone has never been easier with DJI’s tap fly feature; it’s as easy as tapping a screen. Once you tap on the screen the drone fly’s to that location. DJI has made flying easy. This feature gives pilots the ability to focus on getting the perfect aerial shot and video without having to focus on flying. Plus, the Phantom 4 redesigned motors and snap on rotors, allow for rotor free picture and video.
For those looking for speed, the new DJI Phantom 4 comes with a sport mode that lets you go up to 45 mph. High speed mixed in with obstacle detection, redefines how we will be taking our sports videos and pictures. Many of you are probably saying to yourself, “but I already bought the Phantom 3 how will I ever get such cool new features?” The company will be releasing an update so that Phantom 3 owners can execute those same new features as well!
The world of drones is evolving with each passing year, each new model better than the previous. It’s no question that drone technology will be adapted to many existing industries and even create new ones. Surely 2016 is the year of the drone.
